Inflation is rocketing, especially for food and family necessities, energy costs are soaring, mortgage rates are through the roof, and more children live in poverty in the Rhondda than in most areas in Wales and the UK.
The poorest households have been hit worst of all. Many have cut back on essentials and fear that worse is yet to come. The Chancellor of the Exchequer has suggested that Councils should be allowed or encouraged to increase their Council Tax rates.
