Regeneration and Opportunity: The Rhondda and Ogmore Plan
For too long, the people of Rhondda and Ogmore have given more than they’ve ever asked for — but haven’t always seen the rewards of that hard work. Jobs have gone, services have disappeared, and opportunities that should exist here have too often been found somewhere else.
Now, with a Labour government in Westminster and a Labour government in Cardiff Bay, there is finally a real chance to turn the tide — to rebuild, renew and reimagine our valleys for the next generation.
That’s why I’ve been developing a comprehensive ten-year plan for Rhondda and Ogmore — focused on regeneration, opportunity and fairness. It sets out practical steps to tackle the biggest challenges we face: creating good jobs and fair pay, improving transport and housing, cutting child poverty, boosting health and wellbeing, and strengthening our communities.
This isn’t a glossy report or a list of promises — it’s the start of a serious conversation about our future.
Over the past few months I’ve been working with local residents, councillors, community groups and businesses to build a plan that reflects the reality of life in our valleys. But this is still a draft, and your views will help shape the final version.
